Just not right

As a non-sailor, when you think of sailboats, you immediately think of pristeen aquamarine water, blue skies with puffy white clouds, and swaying palm trees.  THIS is not what comes to mind:

The only cool thing about the ice is the zinging sound it  makes when it cracks as you step off the boat or walk on the dock.  But since we can't go anywhere anyway we're doing our best to enjoy the beauty (and to stay warm).  Here's Kintala's winter home.  She's the one with the white covers.

In the meantime we spend copius hours watching the
antics of the seagulls as they skitter along on the ice...

and pray for Spring.

Did you make the boat cover?

Sabrina - yes we made the cover. It's actually our summer sunshades because we didn't have the money to buy all the stuff to make a winter cover right now since we're having to deal with the drive train. We happened on a whole lot of free aviation covering material that's perfect for that sort of thing so all we had to do was buy the trim. We bought a new Sailrite machine at the Annapolis boat show a couple years ago and I've been using it to subsidize my unemployment, doing small canvas and sail repair jobs around the marina.

Beautiful photos. It looks cold, but lovely. Hope you get that engine under control. On the off chance you haven't found this place, her is the link. We have a Westerbeke in our old Cal 34 and this is where Mike orders parts for it.
