(or how to move onto a sailboat) With the advent of our 50th birthdays came the usual sorts of life evaluations that one goes through. At what have I succeeded? What contributions have I made? What do I have left that I want to do before I die? Living on the water was high on both our lists. For any who share the dream, and for our family members who might not understand, this is our story. We don't know where it will take us, but welcome along for the ride!
Nomad - The First Boat
We started our sailing career on a Compac 27-2 named Nomad. Since she was so integral to the fulfillment of our dream I thought she was worth her own mention. She was the perfect boat for 2 newbies: strong, forgiving, very little sail to get us into trouble, shoal draft, and enough room to spend the weekend. You can view detailed pictures here, and if you want to read about her part in our five year plan, start at the beginning of our posts and read forward. We sold Nomad in June of 2011 after buying Kintala in March of 2011. We will miss her, but not too much as we're completely busy trying to get Kintala ready for the big blue sea.
