You know it is bad when you are too corrupt for a casino company. My felling is that power and corruption are inseparable, the best one can aim for is limiting the corruption as much as possible with social structures like a free press, an independent judiciary, and the rule of law. All of which are under direct assault by Mr. Trump and his Republican minions. The nation may be healthy enough to fight off their intentions, but it appears it will be a close call...and will likely leave scars and some perminant crippling.TJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03459069175481821975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6552422419133819877.post-38583078179567816392017-02-28T07:39:52.814-06:002017-02-28T07:39:52.814-06:00Yes, the Bahamians are quiet and reserved--especia...Yes, the Bahamians are quiet and reserved--especially about their politics. However, we learned the politics first hand when they built a new tower and airline terminal in Marsh Harbour. They neglected to run power to the tower, so as far as I know, it's still not functional. The new terminal sat empty for approximately a year, because the former governor was missing in action with his mistress. You normally don't hear about these things as visitors, but eventually they get tired of giving excuses. I've also "friended" a local Georgetownian--and the politics on his page is eye opening. Lack of resources for out islands after the hurricane, the criminal state in Nassau, etc. The comforting thing was these problems aren't unique to Americans but are a struggle in countries around the world.s/v Odin the Wandererhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00183937326005762324noreply@blogger.com
