Stray thoughts

Just some stuff that's been running through my head the last few weeks.

While you're purging Stuff, you will get rid of a few things you wish you hadn't. I had two pairs of fleece lined moccasins and gave one pair to Goodwill since I had another.  I wish I still had both because it's all I wear inside the boat. I also wish I hadn't gotten rid of my little 4 cup coffee pot because we could use it on the generator if we ran out of propane. I think I may replace it with a hotplate for that purpose.

The Honda EU2000i Companion model generator is AWESOME. Not quite as quiet as solar panels or even a wind generator, but it's pretty quiet and did I say it was awesome?

My ginger cookies have become a staple on the boat. Why have I never put these on the Cruising
Comforts site???? (Coming soon I promise)

You drink less milk if you  have to dig it off the bottom of the top-loading fridge.

You wear a shirt twice if you have to carry it far to pay to wash it.

Good lighting is everything inside a boat. The quality of light helps make it a home. With warm white LEDs you can have every light on in the boat at night for a very paltry sum of amps.

Saying that you're going to live off the grid while on a sailboat is a joke. We have just as many cords here as we did in the city.

Organization is a highly desired quality to have if you're going to live on a sailboat. At least for me. It's true that your basic character will not change once you live on a boat. If you have to have an orderly environment on land, you will most certainly have to have an orderly environment on a boat.

You never get tired of beautiful sunsets. Each one is unique and fascinating at the same time.

There is something incredibly soothing about watching a man sculling down the river in the morning. It makes you feel like all is right with the world.

The smell of fall is much more pronounced when it wafts in through a v-berth hatch at night.

The smell of ginger cookies is much more pronounced inside a boat on a cold fall evening.

Waking up warm under the quilt while it's 54 in the boat makes it very hard to get up.

Drinking coffee on a deck overlooking sailboats drifting in the mist while talking to friends is simply one of  the best things that one can ever experience.

Nothing smells as good as Thanksgiving inside a boat...

You only wear a shirt twice before tossing it in the laundry. Your laundry must be closer than ours! HA!

A big pot of chili on the stove, on a cold rainy day is nice.

I've been thinking about the EU2000i. Just out of curiosity where do you stow it when you're underway and then when in use?
